Fall in equity markets and net outflows from liquid fund category during the quarter-ended March 2013 severely dented mutual fund industry’s asset base.
Fund Category Performance
Diversified equity funds posted their worst quarterly performance in over a year. Small/mid-cap equity funds fell more than their large cap peers, but still managed to outperform their benchmark indices. Technology sector were the only sweet spot during the quarter.
Portfolio Analysis of Diversified Equity Funds
In February 2013, exposure to technology sector rose to its highest level since the month of May 2012. Meanwhile exposure to sectors like financials, industrials, auto and FMCG fell in the first 2 months of 2013.
