Our analysts are happy to announce the launch of the Quarterly Markets Observer for India.
The Markets Observer would provide a quarterly snapshot of domestic and equity and fixed markets, economic developments, perspectives on domestic mutual funds, and Morningstar Investment Management's broad views or conviction levels on global and domestic asset classes.
This quarterly publication should be released by the third week after quarter end.
This first quarterly report notes that during the March 2018 quarter, fund managers added recently listed stocks of Bandhan Bank, ICICI Securities, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, among others. Axis Bank came under pressure owing to corporate governance issues, while exposure to State Bank of India increased.
The report also noted that alpha generated by Indian large-cap funds continued to decline. The percentage of active large-cap funds that have outperformed their respective benchmarks on a 3-year rolling return basis has fallen from 91% (March 2017) to 45% (March 2018).
