The mutual fund industry collected Rs 92,693 crore last fiscal, with average SIP inflows of Rs 7,724 crore each month, shows the latest Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) data. In FY 17-18, the average monthly SIP inflows stood at Rs 5,599 crore.
In March 2019, the industry mopped up Rs 8,055 crore through SIPs, marginally less than Rs 8,095 crore collected in February 2019.
AMFI data shows that the industry has added about 9.13 lacs SIP accounts each month on an average during FY 2018-19, with an average SIP size of about Rs 3,070 per SIP account. The total SIP folios have increased from 2.11 crore in March 2018 to 2.62 crore in March 2019, an addition of 51 lakh accounts. A majority of these SIPs are invested through regular plans. As on February 2019, of Rs 2.43 lakh crore SIP assets, 90% or Rs 2.19 lakh crore was invested through regular plans.
